After working for several years as a production manager, Alan C. Blomquist made the leap to producer with the action film "Heated Vengeance" in 1985, and then in 1986 he won an Emmy for the "CBS Schoolbreak Special." Blomquist followed this early success with the Oscar-nominated Johnny Depp vehicle "What's Eating Gilbert Grape?" in 1993. He worked with Depp again in 2000's "Chocolat." In 1995, Blomquist was the executive producer for Alfonso Cuaron's English-language film debut, "A Little Princess." Blomquist worked with Gwyneth Paltrow for the first time on the 2000 movie "Bounce," collaborating with the rising star again on the comedy "View from the Top." His most successful film is the Johnny Cash biopic "Walk the Line," starring Joaquin Phoenix and Reese Witherspoon. Blomquist has also worked with stand-up comedians Larry the Cable Guy and Bill Engvall, producing their individual comedy specials and the "Blue Collar Comedy" films. In 2006, Blomquist made his directorial debut with "Henry Cho: What's That Clickin' Noise?."
